In Cooperation with Robotics specialists Axium Inc. of Montreal, Canada, MagicLogic is developing a special version of its load optimization engine for mixed palletization.
The key difference between the standard Cube-IQ Loading Engine (CLE) and the Mixed Palletization Engine (MPE) is that maximum volume utilization becomes secondary to stability of the load. For straight palletization this is not that difficult, as loading typically takes place in layers/tiers.
In the case of mixed palletization the variation in carton sizes typically makes layered loading impossible. The MPE has special optimization facilities built in that improve ‘brick laying’, thus increasing stability.
Axium Inc. has a working prototype of its Mixed Palletization Robot, with carton placement controlled by MagicLogic’s MPE. Besides the CLE, future versions of Cube-IQ and Cube-IQ BlackBox may offer the MPE as option.
